Day 48 - King of Devil's Island (Norwegian)

 

"At the Bastøy prison for youths, the newest arrival, Erling "C19," becomes fast friends with Olav ("C1"). Under the rule of Håkon, Erling comes to terms with the harsh winter, the mistreatment by the staff, and the hated Housefather Bråthen. "

 

A very interesting movie based on real life events which is partly slow but messed up all the time. The director did an alright job but felt like he didn't capture enough emotion needed to tell an amazing story. The ending was predictable which left me upset as I was expecting something more. The film has many slow spots and doesn't really pick up until close to the very end of the film. If you like dramatic movies then this is the movie for you.

Day 5 - Ragnarok (Norwegian)

 

"The ancient and modern worlds collide when archaeologist Sigurd Svendsen finds the true meaning of the secret runes found in the Oseberg ship."

 

A decent adventure film that has a few similar qualities with The Journey to the Center of the Earth. It was kind of slow starting but it does pick up speed which isn't always a good thing. It felt like there wasnt enough things happening in the film giving the viewer a rushed feeling. I hated the daughter as all she did was scream and acted mean towards everyone except for the woman who accompanies them on the trip. A lot of characters annoyed me because they never stopped smiling but it felt like they were quite naïve about the world even though they live in a world of rejection. But this could have been a way for them to show that these guys have a lot to learn and at the end they are more knowledgeable about this world. It was slightly boring, so if you're not interested in family adventure movies then this is not the movie for you.
