Day 108 - Elizabeth the Golden Age (European)

Elizabeth golden poster.jpg
"A mature Queen Elizabeth endures multiple crises late in her reign including court intrigues, an assassination plot, the Spanish Armada, and romantic disappointments."

I love historical films yet I hate this one not just for its historical inaccuracies but for the fact that it is a badly done film that should of been great. Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush did a great job with the rest of the cast performing sub par. The direction of Shekhar Kapur was poor and it felt like this was his first time directing. I wish the film was more about Elizabeth rather than focusing a bit too much attention on the fact she was a virgin and was seeking romance. I suggest you skip this film and see a better historical film.

Day 85 continued - The Liberator (Spanish-Venezuelan)

The Liberator movie poster, United States.jpg
" IBERTADOR - THE LIBERATOR journeys through the impassioned struggle of Simón Bolívar's (Édgar Ramírez) fight for independence in Latin America from Spain and his vision of a united South American nation"

A very poor film about a very important man. I saw many holes in the story and in some of the scenes. The story was a bit predictable and at times a little boring. The only reason to watch this film is to learn about the formation of what South America is today.

Day 71 continued - Centurion (British)

Posterofcenturion.jpg

"A splinter group of Roman soldiers fight for their lives behind enemy lines after their legion is decimated in a devastating guerrilla attack."

A very weak historical film that has many holes and boring action scenes. The script had a lot to say but I felt like it could have been better. Some of the story simply didn't make sense and felt rushed. There was explanation for many things which causes us to be left hanging even after the end of the film. I suggest you skip this film unless its a slow night.

Day 54 - And the Oscar Goes To....(American)

Tells the history of the Academy Awards

As a documentary goes this one is kind of poor as it didn't really leave me with a lasting impression. It was kind of interesting to learn the history of the award ceremony. It was also nice to get an insight into the mind of the "winners" and why the award means so much to someone in this kind of field. I really wished the documentary had better direction and more depth. It brought up a lot of memories yet it lacked the punch to be a great documentary.

Day 9 - The Huntresses (South Korean)

The Huntresses poster.jpg

A"dventure of 3 korean female warrior, Jin-Ok, Hong-Dan and Ga-Bi as the three most legendary bounty hunters in the Joseon dynasty."

Could have been good especially since Ha Ji-won is in it who is always nice to see. Sadly due to a poor plot direction and the general story moving way to fast. Everything happened to so fast it was hard to see the reason for the actions of the girls sometimes like the girl on the left kissing a man and claiming to like him without previously showing any emotion for him. I suggest you skip this fan unless you like the lead actress.
