Day 97 continued - Expendables 3 (American)

Expendables 3 poster.jpg

This should have been one of the best action films in history but sadly its not. I honestly hate the concept of bringing in a younger crew as all the younger expendables are such weak actors and personally not interesting enough. We have the entrance of Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammar, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, and a few others. Each one of the old guys have proved their worth and I felt like there wasnt a need to add a younger expendable cast because that is not what we signed up for when we buy the ticket or DVD of this film. Besides that I felt like the film was missing heart and good direction. This happens to be the directors second feature length film, which kind of says a lot. If there was better direction, actually maybe one of the men in the film could direct as many of them having directed movies in the past. I would suggest this film to action film fans and really no one else.

Day 97 - Out of the Dark (Hong Kong)

"Stephen Chow is Leo, a mental patient/ghostbuster who is a parody of the character Léon from the 1994 French film The Professional who talks to his plant for assistance, co-starring Karen Mok as Ah Kwan, a curious young girl who gets caught up with all the spooky situations. The pair are then joined by a brigade of quirky security guards in an attempt to get rid of the evil lurking in a supposedly haunted apartment building situated in Hong Kong."

Not the best Stephen Chow movie but it was still entertaining. I enjoyed the fact that his character and the heroine were parodies of two characters from one of my favorite films Leon: The Professional. There were a few nonsense laughing moments but besides that it wasn't as funny as his other works. I really love Hong Kong films, I fully would support their film industry if I could but for now I am just a fan. So as a fan I will say that anyone that likes Stephen Chows comedy style then this is the right film for you. Beware though, this is a darker role as it features blood, violence, and gore.

Day 96 continued - Nameless Gangster (Korean)

"On the verge of being fired, a corrupt customs official finds a haul of drugs and teams up with a vicious gangster to become the most powerful crime partnership in Busan." -IMdb

An absolute snore-fest that every gangster movie fan should ignore. Even though Choi Man-sik is in the film, its still a very bad film. It felt like it was all over the place with no real depth. Choi Man-sik's character was so bland and the direction so out of whack that this could be a student film. All the other characters were as weak as his, everyone seemed to be underwritten and as I stated before they lack depth. There is no way in hell that this film will be remembered as a good crime thriller.

Day 96 - Oujia (American)

Ouija 2014 poster.jpg
" Laine (Olivia Cooke) is devastated to learn that her best friend, Debbie (Shelley Hennig), has mysteriously died in her home by apparent suicide. The night she died, Debbie mentioned to Laine that she had been using a Ouija board and that weird things had been happening around her house. Sensing that the Ouija board may have played a part in Debbie's death, Laine enlists her boyfriend Trevor (Daren Kagasoff), her friend Isabelle (Bianca A. Santos), Debbie's boyfriend Pete (Douglas Smith), and her sister Sarah (Ana Coto) to aid her in saying "goodbye" to Debbie using the same Ouija board Debbie had been using in her home." _Wikipedia.

One of the worst horror movies I have ever seen and that is saying something since I watched a few of the Friday the 13th movies. The script was truly the only thing horrific about the film. All the actors annoyed me and looked years beyond the ages they were suppose to be portraying. Now I will not attack the concept as it is very simple but interesting. No wonder it is a poor film, Michael Bay is one of the producers. I truly can't believe that this film made over 100 million USD despite its 5 million USD budget. It shouldnt even have made a thousand dollars. At all costs avoid this film and watch something that will make you feel smart.

Day 95 continued - A Trip to the Moon (French-Classic)

A Trip to the Moon (1902) Poster

"A group of astronomers go on an expedition to the moon."

A classic film that every film lover and major should watch. It's a black and white silent film but some have editions that have either a narration or voiceovers. It's only 13 minutes long depending on your source, I think it is available to watch on Youtube as well as Netflix Streaming. It really is a must watch for anyone evolved in the world of film and science fiction.

Day 95 - Tricky Brains (Hong Kong)

Tricky Brains (1991) Poster

"A trickster-for-hire, known as the Tricky Expert, is hired to ruin the lives of a father and son by making them think that he's a part of the family."

One of Stephen Chows best movies and one of the better Hong Kong comedies I have seen. It also helps that Andy Lau also stars in the film which was a delight. The whole thing is really nonsense but it is entertaining nonsense that is interesting to watch. Stephen Chow has a way to not make lame jokes seem boring. He knows how to keep our attention and doesn't abuse it once he has it.

Day 94 continued - Lilo and Stitch 2

Liloandstitch2dvd.jpg

"A malfunction threatens to destroy Stitch and his friendship with Lilo!" - IMdb

The gang is back, now the animation is a bit weak compared to the first movie but the characters are still as lovable. I am a fan of Stitch as he is one of my favorite Disney characters. I do applaud the voice actors and the fact that most of them are from the first film including the main characters. Besides that there is not much to say but watch it if you are a Disney or a Stitch fan.

Day 94 - Stitch! the movie (American)

Stitch! The Movie Poster.png
"All the characters of the warm and fluffy "Lilo and Stitch" are back! In "Stitch! - The Movie", Stitch, Jumba, and Peakley are all living with Lilo and Nani. "-IMdb

A decent straight to video animation film, I enjoy the character of Stitch so much that I had to watch this movie. It's nice that some of the characters have the some voice actors as the original. The inbetweens could have been a lot better but everything else wasn't as bad as I thought. If you like Disney animation then you should watch this movie.

Day 93 continued - White Haired Witch (Chinese)

The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom (2014) Poster

"In the twilight of the Ming Dynasty, the Imperial court is plagued by corruption as tyrants rule over the land. With the Manchurians preying on a weakened empire, war is imminent."

Not as bad as I thought but it needed a lot more work. Fan Bing Bing was as beautiful as she normally is and she was a delight to watch. The costume designs were stellar and really fitted each character. The direction was poor as was some of the action scenes. I thought the ending was a bit rushed as was the "lie" present in the film. The lie almost felt worthless as it really didn't do much and proved the main character made a sacrifice that was in vain. Felt like the director tried to cram as much as he could in this film as if it was his last chance.

Day 93 - Sex Ed (American)

"Eddie lands his first teaching gig at an inner city middle school and finds his highly pubescent pupils are receiving no form of sexual education. Eddie isn't really equipped to teach them...he's not exactly experienced romantically."-IMDb

Haley Joel Osment, who was a child star, stars in a raunchy late night comedy about teaching kids sexual education. The subject matter is very interesting, though the delivery was a bit weak due to the script. I like the addition of the two supporting characters as it made it a better movie. If you can get past the fact that Haley voices Sora from Kingdom Hearts and he was the kid in the Sixth Sense then this is the movie for you if you are bored at night.
