Day 31 continued - Vinyl (British)

Vinyl (2012) Poster

"Aging rock group use a young fresh faced punk band to front new recordings to fool the music industry."

A very interesting take of a problem almost all rockers will face..age. The film could have been more serious and it might have been better. The comedy aspect takes away from the true problems that these guys face but it does make the journey easier. Its still a good film and very interesting to watch.  Phil Daniels does an excellent job as an aging rocker who just wants to keep doing what he loves but cant do to his age.

Day 31 - Scary Movie 5 (American)

Scary Movie 5 (2013) Poster

"A couple begin to experience some unusual activity after bringing their lost nieces and nephew home. With the help of home-surveillance cameras, they learn they're being stalked by a nefarious demon."

A lot better than I thought but its still not that good. The series should have ended with the second one. Its too much of a parody to be anything that good at least Kim Kardashian wasn't in it. There were a few laughable moments but not much. Most of the movie was very stupid and slightly annoying.

Day 30 continued - A Monster in Paris (French)

Monster in paris theatrical.jpg
"
The film is set in 1910. The story begins by documenting the flooding of the River Seine that year.
Shy projectionist Emile has a passion for film and is in love with his coworker at the cinema, Maud, but has trouble admitting his true feelings. His friend, an exuberant inventor and delivery driver, Raoul, picks him up from work to transport him in his bizarre vehicle (called "Catherine"), to pick up a new belt for his projector, which was broken due to Emile's inattentiveness while daydreaming. In the process of purchasing a new belt, Emile also gets himself a new camera (which almost gets stolen by a thief). The story also introduces Lucille, Raoul's childhood friend, who is a cabaret singer at the club L'Oiseau Rare ("The Rare Bird"). Though she is a successful singer, her aunt Carlotta does everything to push her into the arms of the wealthy Police commissioner, Victor Maynott, a man consumed by pride and ambition"

A very enjoyable animation film for all ages that will make you smile. The music was good but there wasn't a whole lot of it. I didn't really like how it was set up at first but I grew to enjoy the while thing. It was sweet at times and the other times it was cute. The animation wasn't that bad as well, the character designs were good. I would suggest this to anyone who loves a good movie especially one that takes place in Paris.

Day 30- Sex. Violence. Family Values (Singaporean)

Sex.Violence.FamilyValues movie poster.jpg

"
Billed as "three dirrrty stories from the world's cleanest city", Sex.Violence.FamilyValues is described by its makers as a film that "pitches political correctness out the window of Singapore mainstream cinema."[3]
Cartoons is a dark comedy about a disturbed child whose kindergarten headmistress discovers the boy's penchant for drawing morbid cartoons.
Porn Masala is a satirical farce about a pornographer who casts an Indian actor in his movie after mistaking the latter for an African.
The Bouncer tells the story of nightclub bouncer whose life is upended when he encounters a rebellious teenage poledancer."

A very interesting film filled with interesting characters and multiple culture clashes. I enjoyed this film a lot even if the acting wasn't that great. I like the plotlines as they are interesting and are the kind of stories people tend to shy away from. Its the best kind of movie to watch when you are boread late at night.

Day 29 continued - Machete Kills (American)

Machete Kills.jpg

"The film starts with Machete Cortez (Danny Trejo) and Sartana Rivera (Jessica Alba) attempting to capture weapon dealers who have been supplying the Mexican drug cartels. The military men are then all killed by the gangsters, who in turn are wiped out by another intervening party. Its leader murders Sartana while Machete is arrested by a corrupt Sheriff Doakes (William Sadler) and Deputy Clebourne (Samuel Davis). Doakes unsuccessfully tries to hang Machete but the President of the US, Rathcock (Charlie Sheen), intervenes. Machete is brought to the White House, where the president offers him US citizenship if he eliminates Marcos Mendez (Demián Bichir), a psychopath who is threatening to fire a nuclear missile at Washington, D.C. if the American government does not intervene to stop the rampant drug cartels in Mexico and the corruption of its government."

I'm not a Robert Rodriquez fan but this movie was okay. I did like all of the all star cameos from people like Cuba Gooding Jr to Antonio Banderas. Danny Trejo was awesome as always and it was a little bizarre to see Mel Gibson in the movie but I think he did an good job. The CGI was very poor and might have been filled with too much comedy. I wish the plot was better and they could have done different things with certain characters. It is a good movie to watch if you have nothing else to do.

Day 29 - Shadow of the Vampire (British/American)

ShadowoftheVampireposter.jpg

"In 1921, German director Frederich Wilhelm Murnau takes his cast and crew on-location in Czechoslovakia to shoot Nosferatu, an unauthorized version of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Murnau keeps his team in the dark about their schedule and the actor playing the vampire Count Orlok. It is left to the film's other main actor, Gustav von Wangenheim, to explain that the lead is an obscure German theater performer named Max Schreck, who is a character actor. To involve himself fully in his role, Schreck will only appear amongst the cast and crew in makeup, and will never break character."-wiki

To me this film was a little too boring, I had a hard time trying to get through it all. I did like John Malkovich and William Dafoe's performances as they were the best part of this movie. I didn't really like the storyline too much it was predictable and kind of tame. I suggest you skip this film unless you have seen Nosferatu.

Day 28 continued - Hitler's Children (Israeli/German)

Hitlers children documentary 2011.jpg

"portrays the struggle of family members of Hitler’s inner circle with the burden of a family legacy, and surname, identified with the horrors of the Holocaust. The descendants of the most senior Nazis describe the conflicted feelings of guilt and responsibility they carry with them in their daily lives."

A decent documentary that features such an interesting perspective but wasn't all that good. I enjoyed the emotion present in the film, it was real. If you are interested in WW2 and learning about Nazis then this is the documentary for you. Everyone present in the film has something to do with both of them.
