Day 104 continued - Playing It Cool (American)

Playing It Cool Movie Poster.jpg

"The narrator is a writer and wants to write action but his publisher Bryan wants him to write about romance first. The problem is, the narrator doesn't believe in love. But when he meets Her, he falls for her, only to find out that she is already engaged to Stuffy."- Wikipedia

Chris Evans does not disappoint in this romantic comedy. It was nice to see a romantic comedy from a mans perspective that wasn't filled with that many cliches. I happen to like the chemistry between the two leads as I think it was believable even though it could have been better. I enjoyed the playfulness of the characters and the overall tone of the story. The script was nice but some of the characters could have been written better as they lacked real depth.

Day 101 continued - The Rewrite

The Rewrite.jpg

"Keith Michaels (Grant) is a washed-up British screenwriter who won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay in 1998. Since then, he had divorced and gone broke. He begins teaching a screenwriting course at Binghamton University in upstate New York and falls in love with a single mother (Tomei)."-Wikipedia

Actually not bad but not great. I think this is my favorite Hugh Grant movie. I thought the film was enjoyable but the supporting cast was underwritten. I felt like this movie would have better if it focused on the students rather than as a romantic comedy. Besides that this is a good movie to watch on a nice relaxing day. Its also a good film for a film majors.

Day 99 continued - The Oranges (American)

The Oranges (2011) Poster

"The enduring friendship between the Walling and Ostroff families is tested when Nina, the prodigal Ostroff daughter, returns home for the holidays after a five-year absence and enters into an affair with David, head of the Walling family." - IMdb

Despite the talent of Hugh Laurie and Oliver Platt this film fails to be entertaining. The script wasn't that bad but it needed to be more realistic. The acting was kind of there but felt like the younger cast kind of held the film back. The ending was so predictable, it left a kind of bad taste in my mouth. It made the film seem a lot more simpler than it was. In better hands this would have been a good movie.

Day 80 - And so it goes (American)

And So It Goes

Realtor Oren Little must take care of his granddaughter when his only son goes to jail.

A very weak film despite the talent in it. The story was a bit predictable and not much seems to happen. I think it should have been more about Oren Little (Michael Douglas) bonding with his granddaughter rather than a romantic "comedy". I wrote comedy like that because the film is not funny at all, its a bit bland. There's not much to say but to skip this film at all costs.

Day 67 continued - Blended (American)

Blended (2014) Poster

"After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship."

Could of been better but it has some good comedy present in the film. Despite what the normal critics say I enjoyed this movie quite a lot as I am a Adam Sandler fan. I think he is starting to make better movies as this movie was a thousand times better than his cross-dressing film Jack and Jill. It was probaly quite easy to make chemistry between Adam and Drew because this is the third time they have been romantic interests in a movie. I simply enjoyed seeing them together again, the two made this film really good to watch. I wish the story had more content, it has a lot of good values in it. I suggest you watch this film if you like the two.

This is the 3rd movie that Adam Sandler has been in with Drew Barrymore (Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates), Shaquille O'Neal (Jack and Jill and Grown Ups 2) and Terry Crews (The Longest Yard and Click)

Day 64 - Slow Video (Korean)

Slow Video-p2.jpg

"Yeo Jang-Boo (Cha Tae-Hyun) possesses extraordinary visual acuity. He is able to see things ordinary people cannot. When he little, people laughed at him. Afterwards, he spent the next 20 years at home watching TV dramas.
Finally, Yeo Jang-Boo goes out into the world and becomes an ace at a South Korean CCTV control center. "

A very fun movie to watch, towards the end it is a emotional film to watch. Chae Tae-Hyun did a great job, he was so entertaining and at the same time quite touching. The movie could of had a better script, as the characters were right I felt like some of the story could of been better. If you are used to Korean romantic comedies then this is the movie for you but its a little more serious. I could easily relate to the main character, actually I think a lot of people in this generation can.

Day 56- Her (American)

Her2013Poster.jpg

"A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need"

A bizarre but beautiful that will leave you questioning a lot of things like what is real love? This movie deserved the Academy Award for Best Screenplay because it was truly something different. Joaquin Phoenix gave the best performance of his career, I normally don't like his acting but he was great in this film. He represents many people that I know in real life, so he was a character that is easy to relate to. I love the world that they created within this movie, it was so believable. I can imagine that this is what our future might look like it. This film is quite realistic as there are a few people that have married fictional characters from video games. So the concept of this movie can actually happen.
